Hello Benny,First I must tell you that we had a wonderful time in Irian Jaya We really enjoyed the boat trip to Yapen. We shall never forget the friendly crew and the lovely food they prepared. The snorkeling was good. Especially Aad was delighted that he actually say some birds of paradise. Unfortunately there were only three yellowish spots in the pictures, but of course it's the event itself that counts. Would you please say hello to the kind fisherman's family with whom we stayed and give them the pictures I'll send you (by snail mail)? The guide in Wamena, John Etamawas extremely helpful and a very good guide indeed. These were another three unforgettable days in the Baliem. The valley is beautiful, and so is the Gorge. All Dani (and Lani) people we met were very, very friendly and their culture and way of living most interesting (we climbed the hill to the salt-water pool). The bad thing they learned from us, "civilized world"
though was their smoking habit.Of course we didn't mind giving them all these cigarettes, but surely that can't be contributing to their health. They liked it very much though and became even more friendly having a smoke! In Jayapura we were met by Mr Ginting and Fritz, who had arranged our flight to Wamena. For me being in Jayapura was a gift. (As you know I lived there when I was a little child. Of course the city had changed completely in more than 40 years, but there were also so many places that were still there, which was Amazing.Lake Sentani truly is one of the most beautiful lakes I know. On our next stop, at Flores, we met a very nice French family who was very interested in visiting Irian Jaya as well. Of
course I gave them your e-mail address.Who knows,if one of these days a French family with an 8 or 10-year-old son comes to Biak, say hello from us.
Benny, I would like to thank you in particular for the adequate arrangements you made, and the pleasant company you were when you came with us to Yapen. We will never forget our holiday in Papua.I promise to send you some pictures, for you to keep and to give to all those people in it.

Bye bye from Holland.
Aad sends his best regards,

Gelly Henderson

ps.Your web-site is getting better all the time.
Good luck!

Subject: RE: Mr.Benny.-

enz. Ook Centraal Nieuw Guinea zoals Jayapura, Baliem, Nabire en ook de
Molukken hebben voor hem geen geheimen. Prima adres om vandaar een
heleboel zaken te regelen.

Subject: My Trip To Biak.-

I have traveled to over 40 countries and five continents. I usually go to developing countries for various reasons. Biak Island, Indonesia, was no different. I arrived in Biak in mid February,2004, after backpacking for a month in neighboring Papua New Guinea. PNG is a country that is extremely difficult to travel in without the assistance of a tour agent or guide. I used neither, and rarely do.

Upon arriving in Biak, I had a general idea of what I wanted to do. With limited time and no transportation, I did something I thought I'd never do here; seek the help of a tour guide. At the hotel I was staying in, I met Benny. He told me he was a tour guide and that he knew the Island quite well. We planned an itinerary for the next day. He was actually early for our tour which is rare anywhere. We visited many sights, too many to list here. What impressed me most about Benny was his vast knowledge of nearly everything I asked. From the name and species of a particular bird to interesting facts about WW11 relics.

I must say that the day I spent with Benny was the highlight of my trip to Biak. If I were a Birder, Trekker, WW11 history Buff, or just an adventurous tourist, I would look Benny up for his fantastic service. I'm glad I did !
