Sorong birds watching

Sorong is know as an industrial & the second largest city in Irianjaya where Indonesia and foreign oil companies mine. Situated on the bird's head of the main island of Irianjaya, there are probably not many people have know that the district of Sorong owns over 600 islands ! waigeyo, Salawati Batanta & Misool are four big island that also administered by the district. besides industries & oil mining, Sorong & neighborhoods islands, according to the head of the district, actually offers more than what any other island in Irianjaya may provide to tourists for diving.

main attractions are pearl farming, under Japanese instructor, at Kabra island, Misool & Waigeo islands with its community of various birds. right in the town is a Japanese war memorial on Jalan Arfak. So far it has not always been easy to tet to nearby islands. there are at least three flights a week from Jayapura & Ujungpandang are also available. But surrounding islands must be reached by motorized boats.

After breakfast at hotel then transfer to airport fr your flight to Sorong. Arrive at Jefaman airport sorong then our guide will meet you then transfer by long boat or speedboat to Hotel Cendrawasih or similar.-Lunch and dinner at hotel.-

After breakfast at your hotel then by long boat or speedboat you will be accompany by your local tour guide explore to Batanta Island in 3 hours sailing. Arrive there then report to the local chief of Kampong around there, then you and your guide prepare your tents or hut, then start birding in this area. Your lunch and dinner will serve on the spot.

Start 5 O’clock early in the morning pax with local guide and escort start trekking up and down the hill for birding, hearing the sounds of the endemic birds of this island. All activities in Batanta Island. Your breakfast, Lunch, afternoon tea or coffee and dinner prepared by our experienced cook. Overnight stay at your tents.-

Early in the morning you will start again for birds watching then return to your base camps for breakfast then by boat explore to Salawati island in 15 minutes for birding and you also could snorkeling there. Your lunch, dinner and overnight at Batanta island.-

After breakfast then by longboat we return to Sorong and on the way we stop at Senapang Island for a while to watch the birds and learn the way of life of the native people around this island. Then from here to Sorong town in one and a half hour sailing back to Sorong, arrive to the pier then transfer to your hotel. Lunch dinner at local restaurant. If you have time then city tour to visit some interesting place in downtown.-

Day1: Sorong arrival chech in at hotel Grand Pacific

Day2: Early morning birding around Sorong, back for lunch. Afternoon visit local market or the nearest beach

Day3: After breakfast, boating to Batanta island for 3 hours. Report Surat Jalan to Kepala Desa on arrival. We will camp or stay at local people's house. Afternoon birding around to see Red Bird of Paradise.

Day4-5: Batanta full day birding. After an early breakfast, we'll hike up to see Wilson's Bird of Paradise display. Afternoon birding around.

Day6: After breakfast, boat (15 minutes) to Salawati Island to see Birds of paradise there and also to snorkle. Back to Batanta for lunch. Afternoon birding from the boat.

Day7: Boating back to Sorong, check in at hotel. Afternoon birding the nearest area or visiting local fish market.

Day8: Depart for your next destination.

Having breakfast at the Hotel, transfer on time to the airport for flying by a charter mission flight in 2 hour to reach Yaniruma. Arrive at Yaniruma village where you'll welcomed by Koroway Tribe, walk to Dambol for 3-4hours, lunch will be served at enroute or in Dambol village. Preparation for the performances, Afternoon you have a chance to learn about their traditions or their way of life. Dinner and overnight at Local house.

After breakfast, walk to burial sites with (if any) skulls and bones, in the same village enjoy the Cannibal Feast with Korowai people, lunch served in Dambol, after Lunch if time still available you could see the black magic ritual by local people. Dinner and overnight stay at tree house or at tents.

A half-day to see the people for hunting and cooking for what they get from the jungle, after lunch in Dambol village, continue walk back to Yaniruma village for your charter flight on next day. Dinner and overnight in Yaniruma village by tent or at local house.

Breakfast at your accommodation, (Depending on Weather, etc...) by charter flight in approx. 2hours to Wamena. by car transfer for your accommodation. After lunch by car visiting Napua traditional village of Dani tribe. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight at Baliem pilamo Hotel.

Breakfast at hotel, visiting aikima village, walking around 2 hours to suroba village to explore the traditional villages and study their traditional community of life, an to witness the mummy of former chief of Aikima. Lunch en route. by car to Jiwika then short Walking in 20minutes to Sumpaima to see the Pig ceremony, Tribal Fight and War Dance by Dani People. Afternoon return to Wamena for dinner and overnight at Baliem Pilamo Hotel

Breakfast at hotel, and transfer to airport for your flight return to jayapura in 50 minutes. on arrive in Jayapura Airport proceed on a vehicle to museum, and to yougwa restaurant where you will board a local boat to commence your visit to lake sentani. Lunch served At Yougwa restaurant, continue to hamadi souvenir market, afternoon check-in to Sentani Indah Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at Hotel, on time transfer to the Airport for your flight to Biak. Arrive Biak airport then transfer pax to Arumbai hotel for check in. Afternoon by coach with local guide proceed to East of Biak forest for birding.Afternoon back to hotel for dinner overnight.

After breakfast at hotel,then transfer to airport for flight to Manokwari.Arrive at Rendani airport Manokwari then transfer pax to Mutiara Hotel,for check in,then tour visiting mountain table, for birding in this area.Lunch and dinner at hotel.

After breakfast pax with guide transfer to airport for flight wit MAF charter fligt in 18 minutes to Minyambow.Arrive there then pax start birding arround this area. Lunch dinner and overnight stay at Missionary house or tent.

After breakfast pax wait MAF charter flight for return to Manokwari. Arrive Rendani airport then transfer to hotel for Lunch dinner overnight.

After breakfast Transfer pax to airport for flight to Biak Arrive Biak then transfer to hotel Arumbai. Lunch at Hotel. Afternoon by coach with guide proceed to the west of Biak jungle for birding. Late afternoon back to hotel for dinner overnight.

The birds endemic: Red Bop, King Bop, Wilson's Bop, New Guinea Friarbird, beach king fisher, Great billed Heron, Red bird, Toressian Crow, Palm Cockatoo, Eclestus parrot, spice imperial pigeon, western crowned pigeon etc.-
