jayapura

Jayapura is the name of the municipality town and the province capital of Irian jaya. it's also the centre of Government and location of a number of social, political, culture and development initiatives. Before the second World War, Jayapura then known as "Hollandia" has been appointed the capital city of Dutch New Guinea. After integration with Indonesia, Hollandia became Kota Baru with means : New Town, then Soekarno Pura an finally Jayapura.

 

Jayapura right now has population + 350.000 people, with means : Jaya = victory and pura = fort, so Jayapura is "victorious fort" between Indonesia and the former Dutch colonial. 

 

In Jayapura, there are some interesting place to see such as Sentani lake with nice panorama, traditional house and covers an area of 9,63 ha, with deep 75 meters and has 19 islands inside of the lake. Sentani lake has some fishes like gold fist, cat fist and some other of fresh water fish (Mujair fish). Around Hamadi beach, there are still left of second World war memorial and the monument of Allied force. Allied force landed there April of 22nd 19944  under the leadership of General Douglas Macarthur with total troop + 55.000 troops. Anthology museum at Abepura has some good collections from Asmat arts where contribute by Mr. Jhon Rockkepeller. Mr. Jhon Rockkepeller is brother of Michel Rokkepeller who was disappear at Asmat area in 1961, and some collection from other regencies of Irianjaya.

DAY 01 : JAYAPURA ARRIVAL (L,D)

Morning arrival at the airport, meeting service then transfer to your hotel. After check in visiting Hamadi market and beach to see the remain of the World War II, crocodile farm. Lunch serve at local restaurant. After lunch continue to visit traditional house of Jayapura and see the life and culture of local people. Afternoon back to your hotel.

 

DAY 02 : JAYAPURA - SENTANI LAKE - DEPARTURE (B,L)

After breakfast, pick you up at hotel then drive 30 minutes to South part of Jayapura to see the anthropology museum at Abepura and Sentani lake. Lunch will have at Yougwa restaurant. After lunch drive up to Ifar Gunung to see and enjoy the monument of Gen. Douglas Mc. Arthur and panoramic to Sentani area and Cyclops mountain. Around 2.p.m. drop to airport for your afternoon flight to next destinations. 

 

3 DAYS / 2 NITES  JAYAPURA PACKAGE TOUR

 

DAY 01 : JAYAPURA – ARRIVAL (L,D)

Welcome service at Sentani airport of Jayapura, direct visit Mc. Arthur monument at Ifar gunung to see the memorial of World War II and view to Sentani lake and town, then drive down Telga maya where we start to explore the lake of Sentani. Here you may see the local people how to do the bark painting and other arts. Lunch will have at Yougwa restaurant near lake. after lunch visit anthropology  museum at Abepura and sky line. afternoon check in to your hotel in the city. 

 

DAY 02: JAYAPURA FULLDAY SIGHTSEEING TOUR (B,L,D)

After breakfast at your hotel,  drive 20 minutes to crocodile farm, hamadi beach to see remain of the World War II and Hamdi market. lunch will have at local restaurant. After lunch see the traditional house & fisherman house at Dox IX. Afternoon drive up to Angkasa where you can enjoy the good panoramic of Jayapura surrounding or swimming at Base'G beach. Late afternoon back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

 

DAY 03: JAYAPURA – DEPARTURE (B)

After having breakfast at hotel, free at leisure until the time proceed for transfer to airport for your next destinations
